Illness Policy

Illness And Your Children

Since the start of the ongoing global pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus, we have added a few precautionary measures to our procedures that will help us to limit and prevent the possible spread of the virus and other illnesses in the building. Along with changes to mealtime procedures, an increased frequency of sanitizing procedures, and even more of an emphasis on hand washing with the children, we made some changes that will impact parents and those who wish to tour our building.

Limiting Exposure

One major change we have implemented is that we are checking students in a few feet into our front hallway as well as bringing children to that front hallway to meet their parents at pick-up time. Of course, you are free to return to the classrooms if necessary, but our goal is to minimize the number of people passing through our building to safeguard the health of the children, their families, and our staff. We've found that this is much less distracting to our students and teachers. If you want to visit our facility while searching for childcare centers for your child, please call and schedule a meeting with us. We apologize for this inconvenience, but we feel it is our duty to limit the children's possible exposure.

Safety First

The following is a list of other noteworthy procedures we have put in place to help stop the potential spread of illness in our building:

  • We will not allow those with fevers to attend, and those who develop fevers throughout the day immediately should be picked up by their parents or caregivers.
  • We recently purchased and are using a specialized lighting system in our HVAC units, which sanitizes the circulating air in our building.

At Wee Care Christian Children's Center, our number one priority is to keep your children safe and away from harm. Right now, that means implementing these adjustments to our daily procedures, and we appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

Guidelines for Keeping Your Child Home

Due to Illness

In the event of an illness, the child will be isolated as much as possible until a parent arrives. Therefore, please keep your child home when:

1. Your child has had a fever of 101 degrees or more within the past 24 hours.

2. Your child’s cold is less than 3 days old.

3. Your child has heavy or colored nasal discharge.

4. Symptoms of communicable disease are present. These would include runny nose, reddened eyes, sore throat, headache, fever, rash or diarrhea.

Mask Policy in 2024

We have done away with the daily use of masks for staff, children, and parents. We do, however, expect you and your child (age 4 and up) to wear a mask if experiencing cold-like or other illness symptoms, even if mild, when in our building. This applies to staff, children, and parents who may have sniffles or a slight cough but are not "sick" to the extent that they would not be allowed at the center. Having the masks in our center for the past few years has significantly cut down on illness in our center, so we would greatly appreciate it if you could follow that request.
